The Singapore-flagged ship, owned by Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), was transporting 4,800 vehicles, including 4,700 Mazda cars (Mazda3, CX-7, MX-5, RX-8) and over 100 Isuzu trucks, valued at $117 million, from Japan to Vancouver, Canada. On July 23, 2006, the vessel lost stability during a ballast water exchange south of the Aleutian Islands, developing a 60-degree list to port. The ship was salvaged and towed to Dutch Harbor, Unalaska, Alaska, where it was righted and returned to its owner. Despite salvaging the vessel, all the cars onboard were scrapped by Mazda.
